Dhaj Temple

The 'Summit Shrine' of the Soar Block, where the forest meets the sky.

Page context

This page combines story-led content with practical travel context.

History & Origin

Perched at an altitude of 2,100m, Dhaj is dedicated to Lord Shiva and Maa Jayanti. It is considered the spiritual protector peak of the valley.

The Trek to the Clouds

Dhaj is the highest point in the Pithoragarh block. Reaching it requires a 3-4 km trek through a dense canopy of Rhododendron (Burans) and Oak.

Why it's Unique:

  • The Flora: In March and April, the trail is blood-red with blooming Burans flowers.
  • Peak Observation: From the summit, you get a clear line of sight to the Nanda Devi and Trishul peaks on a clear day.
  • Spiritual Vibes: The temple is simple and serene, untouched by commercialization.

Pro-Tip:

Carry your own water. There are no shops on the trail. The silence at the top is the ultimate reward for the steep climb.
